Scientists suggest they now know how much the Earth weighs. What does this mean?
Each human being walking the Earth embodies a linear force of attraction and repulsion that runs vertically through them, from head to foot and beyond in both directions. Extending downwards, it intersects with that of every other human being in a singular ineffable moment at the center of the planet. In computer parlance, all our soles are parented to the same spot. Like spokes in a wheel rooted to a single point of origin, each of us then radiates outwards to the infinite reaches of space.
How heavy is that?
